Content written by the Red Cross:

Spring has brought high water levels and flooding to many parts of Alberta.  Flooding has forced an evacuation alert for approximately 650 homes in Medicine Hat and the surrounding area.  An additional 28 homes in the area between Medicine Hat and Seven Persons are under an evacuation notice and the Siksika First Nation southeast of Calgary has begun evacuating families as flood waters threaten homes and cut off access within the community.

Red Cross teams are responding in communities throughout Alberta, registering evacuated families to ensure they receive much needed assistance and can be reunited with family members if they are separated as a result of the floods.  Additional response personnel are on stand-by to provide assistance should the situation become more severe.

Red Cross will continue to provide for the needs of individuals who are affected by this disaster. Last year, our volunteer Disaster Response Teams assisted more than 650 adults and children facing crisis situations across Alberta.

Lethbridge College Receives $1-mill from the LADA

Davis GMC Buick is proud to be one of the many members of the Lethbridge and District Auto Dealers Association (LADA) who recently contributed $1-million dollars to Lethbridge College.  The money donated to LC is going towards a new trades-and-technology building as well as improvements to its existing buildings!

With our donation and the help of the other 14 LADA members the trades program will now be able to accommodate approximately 2300 students where they are currently only able to support 1000.

The moneys from the LADA will be partially matched by Alberta’s Access to the Future Fund.  With the donations from the LADA and the Access to the Future Fund this will keep the LC Trades program up-to-date continuing to keep the Lethbridge College Trades program relevant!

We cannot wait to see this new facility!
