GMC is showing off their new GMC Sierra HD Concept truck. I really dont know a whole lot about this beast; the only thing I know, I want one… Not only are you going to get the job done, but you’re going to look rad doing it!
I cannot wait for this puppy to be on the streets, backroads, off-roads, in the mountains, plowing through muddy puddles, sucking doors off Fords, Toyotas and Chevrolets – meanwhile I wave, saying “Sorry sir, but please send me your home address so I mail back your doors I just sucked off your truck” YEA I am that Excited! General Motors has officially unveiled the GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept today giving us a preview to NAIAS and a potential response to Ford’s F-150 Raptor. This Sierra All Terrain HD vehicle offers heavy-duty capability along with off-road prowess.
The Sierra All Terrain HD Concept vehicle rides on a modified production 4WD chassis with the familiar Duramax Diesel and Allison transmission. The vehicle rides higher and features a wider track. This along with its improved suspension gives it great off road capability without sacrificing heavy-duty capabilities.
The Sierra All Terrain HD concept comes in a five-foot, eight inch crew cab/ short box bed body and is shorter overall in length compared to the production 2011 GMC Sierra HD. The trucks track is 73 inches which adds stability, three more inches in ground clearance, specially constructed Fox off-road shocks with remote fluid reservoirs, front and rear jounce shocks, 35 inch tires, full composite underbody protection, and other features to help the truck to navigate around rough terrain.
The Sierra HD concept sports an assortment of LED lighting. The headlights feature high-intensity LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED fog lamps, high-intensity park and turn signal lamps, and LED floodlights for the cargo bed and assist steps.
The Sierra All Terrain Concept sports the same 6.6 liter Duramax Diesel producing 397 HP and 765 lb.-ft. of torque and six-speed Allison transmission. Estimated payload capacity is 2,700 lb., towing is estimated to be around 13,000 lb. for conventional towing and 15,600 lb. for fifth-wheel towing.
The concept vehicle will be officially unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January and be sure to keep an eye on GMI for live coverage as three of us will be there to cover the show.

One thing for sure is that the internet is it has made the world a smaller place. In the past many car dealerships relied on their own local markets to support them to survive. As for now it is not unusual to have people travel 1000 km for the right vehicle at the right price. Many years ago my father John Davis lived and owned the Fort Macleod Chevrolet Buick GMC franchise in, Alberta. Still today the name remains Scougall Motors. What my father learned early was that in order to increase new vehicle and used vehicle sales one needed to expand outside of your own market especially when it was only 3,000 people.
Some of what he practiced he had brought from his previous career in feed sales out in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It was there where is territory expanded beyond Swift Current to Regina and all the way north to Saskatoon, as well north beyond Brooks and into Drumheller, and east over to Calgary, High River and Okotoks. In those days it was word of mouth, sell someone from Cardston and once that vehicle was in the new owner’s driveway they would tell their neighbor or they would tell their cousin in Magrath. It feels good knowing people of Saskatchewan will Google, Regina GMC dealer see our inventory and to Lethbridge knowing we have what they want at the best prices.
Worth the Drive -
If the buying experience was a good one and the customer loved their new Sierra Truck or Buick Car the chances of referrals grew. The Lethbridge, Coaldale, and Picture Butte markets became a large piece of the business that they were doing at Scougalls in Fort Macleod. In 1989 when John purchased Enerson Motors nothing changed except for the names of the towns. Lethbridge became the hub and cities like Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton became targets of Davis Buick GMC. With the arrival of the internet and the ability to post pictures, videos and email of our New and Used Vehicle inventory makes the purchasing process better than it ever has been. This in turn has given us the opportunity to sell more Buick Cars and GMC Trucks as well as many more used vehicles outside of our current market area. Many people Google Calgary Buick Dealer, and it is to our surprise that customers can and will find us in many different ways. My cousins in Okotoks and Airdrie often comment on how many vehicles they see with the Davis name running around in their towns as well cities such as Calgary and Edmonton. As this all transpires it has allowed us to purchase more GM and Buick products as well as other makes such as Fords, Dodges, Toyotas, Hondas and BMW’s, thus better serving the buyers from all of these communities. We have expanded our buying from the traditional auctions too fleet disposals, and in the past 5 years into America. We currently are the leading U.S. Importer of used vehicles from the United States bringing in as many as 50 in a single month. We always have a good selection of these pre-owned vehicles imported from the U.S. It is not uncommon for our drivers to deliver a vehicle to Grand Prarie, Fort McMurray, Edmonton and Watrous all in one week.
